It’s no secret that loving yourself is essential to achieving true happiness. As we continue to navigate through life, it’s important to recognize the strength and beauty we all possess; even if it’s not immediately apparent. So for all you wallflowers, daydreamers, and curious minds out there, take a minute to practice a bit of self-love!
Sometimes I think I'm one downward-dog away from finding my inner peace. That's why I'm so excited about Holy Yoga - it's a special kind of yoga that combines physical practice with spiritual teachings. It's a unique way to unify your body and soul while also connecting with God.
Sometimes it feels like diet culture is blaring at us from all directions. Social media, celebrity endorsements and so-called 'experts' can make it hard to find the truth about health. So much noise telling us what we “should” do to lose weight, supposedly in the name of health – but when did being healthy become synonymous with being thin?
Tina Lifford, actress, author, and founder of the Inner Fitness Project, is on a mission to help others be inner fit and combat the projection that by 2030 the biggest health scare the nation will face is depression. As an Inner Fitness trainer, she created a well-being initiative that teaches effective, reliable practices for navigating your past, present, and future with resilience, power, and wisdom. In addition to operating her own company, Lifford’s acting career shows no signs of slowing down. With over 30-years in Hollywood, she’s best known for her roles as Joan Mosely in South Central and currently as Violet Bordelon, aka Aunt Vi, on OWN’s Queen Sugar. Although the series is still in season six, she’s preparing for season seven, the series finale. She wants to focus this show on her book, "The Little Book of Big Lies" and her upcoming SELF365 program.
As you know, I am very interested in all things fertility as I have been on this long journey to beginning a family. Today on " the balanced girl," I had the pleasure of speaking with Candace Wohl. Candace is featured in many articles including, the Huffington Post, Still Standing Magazine, fertilityauthority.com, adoption.net., Cosmopolitan Magazine, Women's Health Magazine, O Magazine, among others. Candace and her husband Chris decided that in order to overcome adversity, they must stare it directly in the face with humor and raw honesty through writing, thus creating their award-winning blog, "Our Misconception." The couple was featured on MTV's "True Life: I'm Desperate to Have a Baby," a documentary about couples who struggle with infertility, and MTV's "Check-Ups and Check-Ins." Candace is also a fierce advocate, pushing for family-building legislation and infertility awareness, and is an active volunteer for RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association.
